Invention

Invention, from the word invent, means a creation which is never created by any other person in the world. As an example, Thomas Edison invented the tin foil phonograph. Why is it not light bulb? Because it is he improved upon a 50-year-old idea rather than invent it.

Quoted from Wikipedia, [invention means the creation of a new configuration, composition of matter, device, or process. Some inventions are based on pre-existing models or ideas. Other inventions are radical breakthroughs which may extend the boundaries of human knowledge or experience.
Inventions become common in usage are innovations, and may be a major breakthroughs or of minor and incremental impact. The effects can also be in between these two extremes.
An invention that is novel and not obvious to those who are skilled in the same field may be able to obtain the legal protection of a patent. There is also a cultural invention which is an innovative set of useful social behaviors adopted by people and passed on to others.]

basically these topics are all connected; invention, innovation, novelty, patent..

If i would give an example of invention, as in fiction, have you people watch the animation "Jimmy Neutron"? In the cartoon he's a boy genius who invents alot of weird stuff.

Another example of inventor cartoon character is "Lewis" in the animation of "Meet the Robinsons"
